Leader of For Georgia, Giorgi Gakharia, emphasized that his party is currently fighting to uphold the will of Georgian citizens everywhere possible, including with international partners. According to Gakharia, the results released do not reflect the true will of the people and reveal an abuse of power by Bidzina Ivanishvili, founder of the ruling Georgian Dream party.

“It is clear that Ivanishvili has violated the will of the Georgian people, and the published results do not represent that. This didn’t just start yesterday. We’ve long been presenting evidence of this to our partners,” he stressed.

Gakharia assured there had been systematic attempts to intimidate voters, manipulate identification cards, and pressure public servants to sway the election outcome.

„Our party also faced intimidation; Ivanishvili personally threatened me and my team with prosecution. Nevertheless, I thank every supporter and team member for demonstrating the importance of our party,” he added.

Gakharia emphasized that hope should not be lost and action has to be taken to protect votes.

„What Ivanishvili and the government have done over recent months is a direct attempt to take away the people’s right to choose. We must all understand that safeguarding these results is directly tied to preserving our European future. We must use thoughtful protest to protect our society’s freedom,” he stated.
