Giorgi Gakharia, the leader of the Gakharia for Georgia opposition party and former Prime Minister, on Friday pledged to take on Georgia’s ruling party Honorary Chair and billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili, promising to deprive him of his “most precious things – money and power.”

Speaking during a press briefing, Gakharia accused Ivanishvili, the GD founder, of orchestrating attempts to intimidate him. Referring to an attack at the Sheraton Hotel in Batumi earlier this month, Gakharia claimed the incident was part of a premeditated plan to undermine him and his political campaign.

“Despite this ridiculous attempt to intimidate or neutralize me, I promise every citizen of Georgia that I will be on the front line in the fight against violence and evil,” Gakharia declared.

He went further, stating that Ivanishvili had already lost his reputation and the trust of the Georgian people. “We will do everything and win so that, in addition to what Ivanishvili has already lost, he will also lose the most precious things – his money and power. This is my promise to every citizen of Georgia, and believe me, I will definitely fulfill this promise.”
