Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia Giorgi Jincharadze on Monday said that preserving and promoting the Abkhaz language was one of the government’s main priorities, speaking at an event in Senaki, western Georgia, marking Abkhaz Language Day.

Jincharadze, together with the Minister of Education and Culture of Abkhazia, attended an integrated Abkhaz language lesson at the Temur Bokuchava Abkhaz Public School No. 7, where he thanked teachers and students for their efforts in maintaining the language and its cultural significance.

“The Abkhaz language is part of our shared culture and identity. Preserving, protecting, and developing it is one of the most important tasks of our government,” Jincharadze said. “It is crucial to foster young people’s interest in the Abkhaz language, and we are taking steps to strengthen its teaching and promotion across educational institutions.”

During the visit, Jincharadze presented certificates of appreciation to Abkhaz language teachers for their contribution to language preservation and wished them success in their educational and creative work.
