Giorgi Jincharadze, Chairman of the Abkhazian Autonomous Republic government, has highlighted the government’s commitment to improving healthcare access for displaced persons during a visit to the Gldani branch of the Diomedi medical centre in Tbilisi.

The visit took place as part of a free multidisciplinary health screening organised by the Abkhazia Ministry of Health and Social Protection. Displaced persons from the currently Russian-controlled Abkhazia region were able to consult with highly qualified doctors across around ten medical specialties and undergo various diagnostic tests at no cost.

Jincharadze met with the medical centre’s management and staff, reaffirming the importance of expanding healthcare services in areas with a high concentration of displaced persons.

“Improving access to healthcare services in such territories is a key priority for the Abkhazian government. This is why the ministry regularly implements free screening programmes, ensuring that every displaced person can receive timely and necessary medical assistance,” Jincharadze said.

The newly appointed Minister of Health and Social Protection, Besik Kusidi, joined the visit, alongside Manona Gejua, First Deputy Minister, and Natia Partsvania, General Director of Diomedi medical centre.

Officials confirmed that similar initiatives and visits to medical centres across Georgia will continue to support displaced populations.
