The Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, Giorgi Jincharadze, has congratulated Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II of All Georgia on the 48th anniversary of his enthronement.

In a written statement, Jincharadze said the Patriarch’s decades-long service had played a significant role in strengthening spiritual values and reinforcing the authority of the Georgian Orthodox Church.

He highlighted what he described as key steps taken during Ilia II’s tenure to preserve the historical and spiritual legacy of Abkhazia, including decisions related to the Tskhum-Abkhazia diocese and the establishment of Abkhazia Day. According to Jincharadze, these actions have contributed to sustaining public hope for peaceful unity and coexistence between Georgians and Abkhazians.

Jincharadze expressed confidence that, with the Patriarch’s blessing, Georgia’s territorial integrity would be restored and that displaced people would eventually return to Abkhazia.

Ilia II has served as Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia since 1977.
