Mothers displaced from Russian-occupied Abkhazia whose sons were killed defending Georgia’s territorial integrity will receive a 500 GEL financial assistance payment, the Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, Giorgi Jincharadze, announced during a Mother’s Day meeting.

Speaking at the event on Tuesday, Jincharadze congratulated the mothers on Mother’s Day, wished them good health, and thanked them for raising “devoted sons and heroes who sacrificed their lives for the homeland.”

He stressed that supporting the families of fallen soldiers remained one of the Abkhaz government’s top priorities and obligations.

“I would like to congratulate society on Mother’s Day, and especially those mothers whose children gave their lives for the country and for our future. It is extremely important for us to care for and support them. Therefore, by my decision, mothers displaced from Abkhazia whose sons died for Georgia’s territorial integrity will receive 500 GEL in financial assistance,” he said.

Members of the Abkhaz government and representatives of the Abkhaz Veterans’ Union attended the meeting.
