The Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, Giorgi Jincharadze, has held an introductory meeting with Imereti regional governor Levan Zalkaliani and local municipal leaders in western Georgia to address the challenges facing internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Abkhazia residing in the region.

The meeting, held at the Imereti State Governor’s Office in Kutaisi, focused on the living conditions and pressing needs of the displaced population. Jincharadze thanked the regional authorities for their continued support of IDPs and emphasised the importance of close cooperation with local governments.

“We discussed the key problems affecting displaced persons living in Imereti and the urgent issues around their living conditions,” Jincharadze said. “We will do our best to address each case promptly and ensure an effective response.”

He stressed that ongoing coordination between the Abkhazia government and municipal authorities would be essential in improving the support system for IDPs.

The parties also reviewed planned initiatives aimed at fostering integration, improving socio-economic conditions, and ensuring dignified living standards for those displaced by the conflict in Abkhazia.

Representatives from the Imereti territorial body of the Ministry for Internally Displaced Persons of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia also participated in the discussions.
