Chair of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, Giorgi Jinchardze, on Thursday participated in the preparatory meeting for the 65th round of the Geneva International Discussions.
The meeting with the co-chairs from the European Union, the United Nations and the OSCE was led by Lasha Darsalia, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and Head of the Georgian Delegation to the Geneva Discussions.
Discussions focused on ensuring the effectiveness of the Geneva format, emphasising the importance of progress on key agenda items, including the implementation of Russia’s international obligations under the EU-mediated August 12, 2008 ceasefire agreement and the safe and dignified return of internally displaced persons and refugees.
The Georgian side underlined the importance of resuming the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism in Gali, without preconditions and maintaining its regular meetings in both Gali and Ergneti in line with the format’s core principles.
Georgia also raised concerns over the grave security, humanitarian and human rights situation in the occupied regions and along the occupation line. Attention was drawn to the attempts by the occupying regime in Abkhazia to restrict or block confidence-building projects aimed at fostering trust between divided communities.
The 65th round of the Geneva International Discussions is scheduled to take place on 11–12 November 2025.
