Giorgi Vashadze, leader of the opposition party Strategy Aghmashenebeli, on Monday condemned what he described as the Government’s rule through “fear and repression,” while expressing confidence that the Georgian people’s democratic struggle cannot be stopped.
Vashadze highlighted the arrest of his party’s Secretary General, Paata Manjgaladze, calling him an “innocent, honest, and patriotic man”.
“His imprisonment is yet another proof that the regime stands solely on fear and repression,” Vashadze said.
Referring to the October 4 rally, where thousands of Georgians took to the streets, Vashadze said it demonstrated that “the Georgian people will not give up” and that the protest has once again drawn international attention.
“Today’s reality clearly shows that the elections did not take place - this is a fact no one can change [...] They were too late - nothing can stop the peaceful, just, and democratic struggle of the Georgian people. This fight will continue and will end only with Georgia’s victory,” Vashadze said.
