Giorgi Vashadze, a leader of the Unity – National Movement opposition alliance on Wednesday dismissed Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze’s recent claims about potential attacks on opposition leaders as falsehoods.

Vashadze accused Kobakhidze of fabricating lies to cover up his fear of losing the upcoming elections.

In a response to Kobakhidze’s claims, Vashadze challenged the Prime Minister’s assertions, questioning why Kobakhidze was spreading what he described as untruths. “Your panic stems from knowing you’re losing. The Georgian people favor a future in the European Union, while your choice leads to isolation and poverty,” Vashadze asserted.

Prime Minister Kobakhidze had earlier warned of risks facing opposition leaders, suggesting that any attacks could be used by the United National Movement and its allies to undermine the electoral process and the government. He urged the public to be cautious of any provocations from the “radical opposition”.
