After a meeting between opposition leaders and President Salome Zourabichvili, Giorgi Vashadze, a leader of the United National Movement, stated that the opposition and the president are aligned in their goals and strategies moving forward.

“There are two key aspects here. First, we reviewed, in detail, what needs to be fixed to ensure that elections in this country can be conducted at least somewhat normally. But, of course, the political dimension is also crucial. We discussed with the president how to organize ourselves and what strategies we need to adopt to continue the fight effectively after December 29,” said Vashadze.

According to him, the discussions resulted in shared perspectives and coordinated plans: “Tomorrow at 7 PM, we will reconvene, and I can say outright that our thoughts and visions align.”

Vashadze underscored the pivotal role of the president in the ongoing efforts: “The main takeaway is that we all agreed on one thing—legitimacy still lies with the president, and we will continue this fight together with her, both before and after December 29. We also discussed mechanisms that should be established in collaboration with the president to achieve final victory.”

This meeting follows growing calls for new elections and widespread public dissatisfaction with the legitimacy of the current parliament and the suspension of the EU accession negotiations until 2028.
