Georgia’s Minister of Education, Science and Youth, Givi Mikanadze, has held talks with senior officials from the United Nations Development Programme during a working visit to the United States, focusing on vocational education and ongoing cooperation projects, his press office said on Friday.

Mikanadze met Ivana Živković, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and Director of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States.

The discussions covered current joint initiatives between Georgia and the UNDP, alongside future areas of cooperation. Particular attention was given to the development of vocational education and training programmes, with both sides emphasising the importance of continued partnership in this sector.

Mikanadze thanked the UNDP for its support of Georgia’s education system and expressed readiness to maintain close cooperation in implementing the country’s 2026-2030 programme framework.

The meeting also highlighted the significance of the United Nations Public Service Forum, which is scheduled to be held in Georgia in June.

Živković welcomed the progress achieved through existing projects and reaffirmed the UNDP’s willingness to continue cooperation with Georgia, according to the ministry’s statement.
