Georgian Education Minister, UN Youth Affairs chief discuss expanding youth cooperation

Georgian Education Minister Givi Mikhanadze on Tuesday met UN Assistant Secretary-General for Youth Affairs Felipe Paullier at the United Nations headquarters in New York, with talks focusing on strengthening bilateral cooperation and advancing youth policy initiatives.
The Ministry’s press office said the discussions centered on deepening collaboration in youth development and enhancing Georgia’s role in global youth platforms.
Mikhanadze briefed the UN official on the work of Georgia’s Youth Agency, outlining its current projects and future plans. The sides also highlighted the importance of the ECOSOC Youth Forum and Georgia’s active engagement in international youth dialogue.
Particular attention was paid to the Ministry’s 2026 action plan, including research assessing the needs of young people in Georgia. The Minister highlighted that supporting youth initiatives and increasing youth participation in key national processes remain a priority for the Government.
He also spoke about ongoing programmes such as youth camps, grant competitions and advisory councils, as well as joint regional initiatives with Azerbaijan and Armenia. Turkey is expected to join these international youth projects this year.
Paullier thanked the Georgian side for sharing its experience and expressed readiness to deepen cooperation. He also invited Mikhanadze to attend an international youth forum scheduled for November in New York.
