Georgia’s Minister of Education, Science and Youth Givi Mikanadze, who is on an official visit to Budapest, met with Hungary’s Minister of the Interior Sándor Pintér, who oversees the general education sector.

According to the Georgian Ministry’s press service, Mikanadze thanked his Hungarian counterpart for continued support and underlined the importance of the long-standing and close partnership between Georgia and Hungary.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed cooperation in teacher professional development, ensuring safe and inclusive school environments, and the integration of modern technologies into the learning process, as well as the exchange of best practices in these areas. They also reviewed ways to strengthen core subjects at the general education level, develop modern educational infrastructure, and introduce flexible funding mechanisms.

Mikanadze briefed Minister Pintér on Georgia’s ongoing general education reform, which aims to introduce “value-based learning content in schools, establish systematic and regularly updated educational resources, promote diverse school culture, and ensure continuity across different levels of education by strengthening links between educational stages”.

Minister Pintér welcomed the reforms, describing Georgia’s new education policy as a significant step forward for the country’s education system.

The two ministers agreed to establish a joint working group in the near future, which will meet regularly to discuss key issues related to cooperation in general education.

At the end of the meeting, both sides expressed readiness to deepen cooperation and implement joint educational projects. Mikanadze also invited Minister Pintér to pay an official visit to Georgia.
