Georgia’s Minister of Education, Science and Youth, Givi Mikanadze, has met the rector of Ilia State University, Nino Doborjginidze, and representatives of the institution as part of the ongoing higher education reform process.

The sides discussed issues related to the university’s sectoral development, the ministry press office said on Monday.

Talks focused on improving educational programmes, redistributing student admission quotas across academic courses, and strengthening teacher training programmes.

As part of the higher education reform, meetings will be held in stages with academic staff at all state universities across the country. The aim is to discuss planned initiatives and to inform professors and members of the scientific community about upcoming changes, the statement said.
