Georgia’s Minister of Education, Science and Youth, Givi Mikanadze, held a working meeting with the leadership and academic staff of Kutaisi International University (KIU) to discuss the ongoing reform of the country’s higher education system.

The meeting focused on key reform priorities, including the development of academic programmes, improvement of teaching quality standards, redistribution of student admission quotas, and enhancement of student mobility mechanisms.

Mikanadze underlined the strategic importance of Kutaisi International University within Georgia’s higher education landscape, noting its multidisciplinary profile and role in strengthening academic capacity and research potential.

The discussion was held in a question-and-answer format, allowing university representatives to raise concerns and receive clarifications regarding the reform process and its implementation.

Deputy Minister Zviad Gabisonia, Acting Rector Vakhtang Tsagareli, and Chair of the Kutaisi City Council Giorgi Chirgvaria also addressed participants at the meeting.
