Georgia’s Minister of Education, Science, and Youth, Givi Mikanadze, held an introductory meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Georgia, Ali Kaan Orbai. The two officials discussed the implementation of joint initiatives and the importance of further strengthening bilateral cooperation.
According to the Ministry’s press service, the conversation focused on the friendly relations between the two countries and emphasized the need to continue and deepen collaboration in the fields of education, science, and youth.
Special attention was given to strengthening ties between higher education institutions, expanding student exchange programs, and fostering partnerships in vocational education—particularly in the areas of veterinary medicine and healthcare.
The parties also explored prospects for expanded scientific cooperation, including the launch of joint research projects and the development of innovative technologies.
Both sides underscored the importance of the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Education between the Governments of Georgia and Turkey. It was noted that a meeting between representatives of the two countries’ education ministries is scheduled for August this year, during which the draft agreement will be discussed.
Additionally, work has been completed on a Memorandum of Understanding in the Field of Youth, which is set to be signed soon between Georgia’s Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth and Turkey’s Ministry of Youth and Sports.
At the end of the meeting, Ambassador Orbai thanked Minister Mikanadze for the productive partnership and reaffirmed Turkey’s readiness to deepen the constructive cooperation between the two nations.
