The number of voters registered with the US Republican Party began to decline rapidly. Since the beginning of the year, their number has decreased by tens of thousands.
This is reported by The Hill with reference to official data coming from individual US states.
The wave of "desertion" within the Republican may cause problems for the political force.
"More than 30,000 voters who were registered as members of the Republican Party changed their party registration – a few weeks after a crowd of Trump supporters attacked the Capitol," the report said.
As the news_copypaper reminds, this led to the impeachment of the previous president, Donald Trump, with accusations of incitement to rebellion.
On January 6, Trump supporters staged a protest outside the Capitol, where the US Congress met to approve the presidential election. The protests escalated into riots and the infiltration of Trump supporters into the Capitol building. The riots killed five people.
