Officers of the Shida Kartli Police Department have detained six individuals in connection with a violent incident in Gori, Georgia, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) announced.
According to the MIA, a 36-year-old man, identified as D.G., was arrested on charges of intentional infliction of severe bodily harm and illegal purchase, possession, and carrying of a firearm. Five others – I.M. (born 1981), L.M. (born 1989), D.Ts. (born 1992), B.T. (born 1992), and G.Sh. (born 1991) – were detained for group violence against two or more persons. The offenses carry a penalty of up to 10 years in prison.
The investigation revealed that on August 8, D.G. physically assaulted L.N. (born 2003) following a verbal dispute. Later that day, the opposing sides, accompanied by others, met again in an attempt to resolve the conflict. During the renewed altercation, the suspects carried out group violence against L.N. and his companions. D.G. allegedly fired several shots, injuring L.N.’s brother, D.N., and his friend, E.N., in the legs. Both victims were hospitalized for medical treatment.
The suspects fled the scene but were apprehended within hours during police operations. A search of D.G.’s basement uncovered the firearm used in the attack — a Molot Arms model — which was seized as evidence.
The investigation is ongoing under Articles 117, 236, and 126 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
