Gov’t announces one-time financial aid for WWII veterans, family members of deceased for May 9

The WWII veterans will receive  ₾1,000 ($397) and the family members of those killed in the war ₾500 ($198) in commemoration of the 78th anniversary of victory over the Nazi Germany by allied forces in May 9 celebrations, the government press office said on Monday. 

 

The government administration said the Social Service Agency of the Ministry of Health will provide the assistance across the country, while Tbilisi City Hall will ensure the provision of the aid for those registered in the country’s capital. 

 

There are 114 WWII veterans and 624 individuals equal to the veteran status across the country as of April of this year.
