The Georgian Government on Monday announced it had doubled a one-time financial assistance for maternity leave for those requesting it from this month due to pregnancy, childbirth, childcare or child adoption.
The aid will increase from existing ₾1,000 [$373] to ₾2,000 [$746] for employed individuals both in the private and the public sector, the Government Administration said following a weekly Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.
The Government noted, along with the one-time budgetary assistance, the teachers in the public schools would receive additional funds for leaving any of the mentioned reasons, allowing them to receive the full amount of the wages during their leave they had received while on duty.
