The government’s optimism is due not to their strength, but to the weakness of the opposition, political analyst Gia Khukhashvili told Front News on Monday in reference to the recent polls of IRI, which placed the public support to the ruling Georgian Dream party at 25 percent, while the largest opposition group – the United National Movement – was liked by 12 percent of the people.

Khukhashvili said that the government “has nothing to be proud of” with this survey, “but it shows the even more difficult situation of the opposition”.

He said that the survey had displayed the “real picture” – that the government benefited from the opposition’s weakness more than anything else.
