The government has announced its decision on Thursday to reject President Salome Zurabishvili’s proposed working visit to the Republic of Lithuania, which was scheduled from April 10 to April 12 of this year. This decision has been officially published on the government’s website.

President Zourabichvili had faced an impeachment vote last year due to unauthorized foreign trips.  However, the impeachment procedures initiated by the ruling power were unsuccessful, as the opposition refused to support them.

Despite this, the President has continued to make unauthorized foreign trips, arguing that her actions are aimed at facilitating the country’s EU integration, “unlike the current ruling power”.

In response, the ruling party accuses the President of disregarding the country’s constitution and hindering its EU integration efforts.
