Gov’t to subsidize electricity, water communal fees for socially vulnerable

The Georgian government will subsidize electricity and water communal fees for socially vulnerable families per the decrease issued yesterday. 

 

The vulnerable families in the regions with a score of 70,000 or less will pay in line with the 2015 tariff – this means that socially vulnerable customers of “Energo Pro-Georgia” will pay 8.97 tetri for energy consumption up to 100 kWh (instead of 17, 73 tetri), from 101 to 300 kW / h – 12.98 tetri (instead of 21.71 tetri), above 301 kW / h – 17.5 tetri (instead of 26.23 tetri).

 

Socially vulnerable families registered in Tbilisi, whose rating score does not exceed 70,000, will receive a subsidy from the City Hall in the amount of a maximum of 106 GEL, and families from 70,000 to 200,000 points – no more than 20 GEL.

 

From 70 thousand points up to 150 thousand points (not more than 200 kWh) both in Tbilisi and in the region, socially vulnerable families registered will pay 3.5 tetri less (up to 100 kWh: in Tbilisi – 14.54 tetri,in the regions – 14.24 tetri, from 101 to 201 kWh: in Tbilisi – 18.56 tetri; in the regions – 18.21 tetri).

 

A maximum of 100 GEL per month for water will be subsidized for socially vulnerable families with scores of 70,000 or less in Tbilisi, Rustavi and Mtskheta.

 

More than 95 percent of the population has had their electricity bills increased since January 1, 2022. 

 

Now the people has to pay3.5 GEL more per 100 kWh consumed.
