The Georgian government has plans to impose new regulations for online casinos, which are mostly foreign companies, and restrict the sale of psychotropic drugs to fight pharmacological drug crimes more effectively.

Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili stated earlier today that the Finance Ministry will present a bill in the coming days which will propose new restrictions for online casinos, including increase in fees, banning of ads and the increase of gamblers’ age to 25 years.

He stated that the country loses 1.5 billion GEL annually, which is the money mostly of a poor population, due to online gambling.

Garibashvili said that the government is also drafting amendments which will leave the country’s young population, who are able to work, without the state social support.

He stated that the government will offer them jobs instead.
