The Georgian Dream (GD) authorities are attacking people, their opponents, further deepening polarization, Strategy Agmashenebeli MP Paata Manjgaladze told Front News on Thursday, following the attacks on Home to  Europe rally participants in the regions ahead of the July 3 demonstration in the Georgian capital.

Manjgaladze suggested that attacking citizens “is a style of PM Irakli Garibashvili.”

“He [Garibashvili] acted in the way when he took the post for the first time [in 2013] and now, when he re-occupied the position [in 2021]. The government claims that angry people are attacking opposition and civil activists, while those who attack are actually public servants, the GD activists,” Manjgaladze said.

He stated that the ruling party and the founder of the party, Bidzina Ivanishvili, “are using the people for their political interests and are further straining the situation in the country.”

The confrontation in the regions took place when the rally organizers were distributing leaflets, inviting the people to attend the demonstration on July 3 and briefing them about the benefits of the EU integration.
