The Mtskheta-Mtianeti Police Department of Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs has launched an investigation under Article 116 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to the negligent loss of life, following the tragic discovery of 12 deceased individuals in Gudauri.

The incident occurred on the second floor of an Indian restaurant, where a sleeping area had been arranged. Initial examinations revealed no signs of violence on the bodies. According to preliminary reports, a generator was located in a nearby closed indoor space. It is suspected that the generator was activated after a power outage at the establishment the previous evening.

Out of the 12 victims, 11 are foreign nationals, and one is a Georgian citizen.

Authorities are conducting intensive investigative activities. Experts and forensic specialists are working at the scene, and individuals connected to the case are being questioned. Additionally, a forensic examination has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.

The investigation is ongoing.
