Two arrested in western Georgia on large-scale drug charges

Police in Georgia have arrested two individuals in the country’s west on charges of illegal drug-related activities, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced on Thursday.

D.Kh., 46, and T.Kh., 44, both of whom have prior convictions, were detained by officers from the Ozurgeti District Division of the Guria Police Department. The pair are accused of multiple counts of illegal purchase, storage, and manufacture of large and especially large quantities of narcotic substances.

Authorities said the suspects face potential sentences ranging from eight to 20 years in prison, or even life imprisonment.

During searches of their personal and residential properties, police seized significant amounts of methadone, alpha-PVP, and clephedrone. Additional evidence, including polyethylene packages, adhesive tapes, and an electric scale, was also recovered.
