Former US Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris has criticised the United States’ operation in Venezuela, saying it has not made America “safer, stronger, or more affordable.”

“This is a movie we have seen before,” Harris said, warning against wars for regime change or oil that are “sold as strength but end in chaos, with American families paying the price.”

She added that the American public does not support such actions and is “tired of being lied to.”

According to Harris, the operation is not about combating drugs or defending democracy. “This is about oil and Donald Trump’s desire to play the role of a regional strongman,” she said.

Harris accused the President of putting US troops at risk, spending billions of dollars and destabilising the region without offering legal authorisation, an exit strategy, or tangible benefits for the country at home.
