Davit Arakhamia, the head of the ruling faction in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, on Monday said corrupt officials would be held accountable with imprisonment starting from spring.

“Probably, we will start actively putting them in prison from the spring. A humane approach has not worked, then it will be according to the law suitable for wartime. Some people have completely lost their minds and are marauding without fear or conscience,” Arakhamia said in his social media post.

He stressed the forthcoming move would concern both the case of the purchase of generators, with the Deputy Minister of Regional Infrastructure Development of Ukraine already arrested, as well as the allegations against the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine that the office buys food products for the army at high prices.

Arakhamia noted that since the start of the war by Russia on February 24, the Ukrainian authorities had constantly called on officials to focus on the war, helping the victims, reduction in bureaucracy and stopping dubious businesses.
