Health of a mother of a killed woman by husband in public transport stable

The condition of Sopho Kvaratskhelia’s mother, who was killed by her husband in a public transport in Tbilisi in front of their two underage children, is relatively stable. 

Khatuna Nachkebia, diagnosed with a heart attack, was placed in Jo Ann University Hospital on the day of the murder, on May 21. 

According to the doctor, the patient is undergoing examinations and appropriate treatment.

“The patient’s health condition is relatively stable at this stage. All relevant examinations and treatments are underway. We do not disclose additional information at this stage due to the patient’s interests. No discharge is planned yet, it depends on the patient’s condition,” said cardiologist David Gabelaia.

Roin Mebonia, 38, was arrested the same day. 

Neighbors in the western Zugdidi region, where the couple lived in previous years, told journalists that the suspect had mental problems. 

The murdered woman was 31 years old. 

The family was forced to move to Tbilisi due to the health of their child.
