Health official advises pregnant women to get Covid-19 jab

Head of Georgia’s National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Amiran Gamkrelidze has stated that ‘all pregnant women in Georgia should receive the coronavirus vaccine.’
He said that it is ‘wrong and unecceptable’ that some doctors do not advise pregnant patients to get the jab.
Gamkrelidze said that Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccines are reccomended for pregnant women.
He stated as Georgia has not yer provided the Moderna vaccine and the age limit was imposed for AstraZeneca , the pregnant women in the country can receive the Pfizer vaccine ‘which is absolutely safe for them and will protect them and fetus.’
One pregnant woman died from Covid-19 in Georgia last year, while the figure stands at eight this year.
Georgia has reported 4,743 new cases of coronavirus, 3,393 recoveries and 59 deaths in the past 24 hours.
58,995 remain infected with Covid-19 in Georgia currently.
907,665 individuals have received at least one dose of the vaccine in the country so far, of which 266,962 individuals have been completely innoculated.
Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Sinovac and Sinpharm vaccines are available in Georgia as of today.
