The Prime Minister of Georgia, who is on an official visit to Budapest, met with the Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orbán, on Thursday.
Orban hosted Garibashvili at a working dinner, the government press office said.
“The colleagues talked about the positive dynamics of the development of bilateral friendly relations between Georgia and Hungary and further deepening of cooperation,” said the press office.
Before that, Garibashvili met with the speaker of the National Assembly of the Hungarian Parliament, László Kövér, and discussed the prospects of deepening cooperation between the countries, as well as the Russian military aggression in Ukraine.
Orban became the Prime Minister of Hungary for the fourth term in April of this year. On the backdrop of Russia’s war against Ukraine, the Hungarian government tried to convince voters before the elections that it could prevent the war, while the opposition – not.
Orban maintains positive relations with Russian President Vladimir Putin. After winning the elections, Orban named Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy among his opponents.
