Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijani President, on Sunday claimed if Yerevan accepted, he was ready to send his Government representatives for bilateral and trilateral meetings in Tbilisi, at a press briefing with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili in the Georgian capital city.

In his second official trip over the past two years, Aliyev also commended the efforts by the current Government and expressed readiness to further strengthen energy, trade and economic cooperation.

Calling Azerbaijan a “strategic partner”, Garibashvili said in his social media post on Monday it was a “great meeting with Aliyev”.

“Georgia and Azerbaijan are focused on strengthening ties and fostering economic growth. We are exploring joint opportunities in trade, energy, sustainable and  infrastructure development to benefit our people. Reiterated Georgia’’s support to lasting peace and stability in the region”.

In his comments at a press briefing with Aliyev, Garibashvili also stressed the regional states needed to resolve their issue “by themselves”.
