The government of Georgia has decided to destroy [former president Mikheil] Saakashvili slowly. If he dies in prison, the current Georgian authorities will not wash it away, the Ukrainian president’s advisor Oleksiy Arestovych said.

“Saakashvili came to Georgia of his own accord and fell into the hands of the [Georgian Dream] authorities. They are afraid of killing him, they are also afraid of handing him over, so they decided to destroy him slowly. They will say that they had done everything, ensured all services to him and so on “, said the Ukrainian politician.

Asked whether Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy should intervene,  Arestovych

said he did not know whether Zelenskyy could do anything in this situation, “it’s up to him.”

He suggested the Georgian government hand Saakashvili, who currently holds Ukrainian citizenship, to the third country.

“If he [Saakashvili] dies in prison, let’s be honest, the Georgian authorities will never wash it away, no matter what kind of evidence they present that they did everything to prevent him from dying,” said Arestovych.
