Ruslan Stefanchuk, the Ukrainian Parliament Speaker, on Tuesday reacted to the 15th anniversary of the Russia-Georgia war and said if the international community had reacted to the aggression “more decisively” in 2008, Moscow would “hardly dared  to encroach on independent territories that do not belong to it”.

“15 years ago, Russia began armed aggression against Georgia, against the Georgian people. 15 years ago, Russia demonstrated aggressive imperial ambitions”, Stefanchuk tweeted.

He stressed Ukraine was fighting for the future against the one “who has always tried to destroy this future”.

“Only with joint efforts – determined and coordinated – will we defeat the aggressor and establish peace in Europe”, he said.
