It is illusion and a self-delusion that the current Georgian Dream Government will use time to ensure the country’s membership of the European Union following the European Commission’s recommendation to the Council last week to grant Georgia the bloc’s candidacy in December, Paata Manjgaladze, an MP of the Strategy Agmashenebeli opposition, said on Monday.
He claimed the Commission’s recommendation was a “merit” of the Georgian people and not its Government, as the “latter had failed to meet nine of 12 conditions”, and added the next year Parliamentary elections would be “decisive” for Georgia’s EU integration.
Manjgaladze said the GD authorities were “already taking actions” to “fabricate” the elections, adding a British citizen, who was hired by the opposition platform from an American consulting company, was denied entry to the country.
“This is what they do in Putin’s Russia and Belarus, when American and European consultants are not allowed. This means that the Georgian Dream is already preparing for falsification”, said Manjgaladze.
