Officers of the Imereti Police Department of Georgia's Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested two foreign nationals at different times on charges of illegally purchasing, possessing and facilitating the distribution of a particularly large quantity of narcotics.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, law enforcement officers seized a particularly large quantity of the narcotic drug methadone during searches of the suspects, their temporary residences and as part of an investigative experiment. The drugs were recovered from locations identified by the accused.
Police also confiscated materials allegedly used for packaging narcotic substances.
The offences carry penalties of up to 20 years' imprisonment or life imprisonment if convicted.
