Indian actress Hema Malini expresses condolences over passing of Georgian Patriarch Ilia II

Indian cinema legend and Member of the Indian Parliament, Hema Malini, expressed her sorrow over the death of His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II, Catholicos-Patriarch of Georgia, in a post on Facebook on Wednesday.

“I was deeply saddened to know of the passing of His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II, the Catholicos-Patriarch of Georgia. Having met His Holiness during my visit to Tbilisi a few years ago, I was deeply moved by His warmth and compassion. His love and service for humanity is incomparable. During my visit I had offered my respects to His Holiness and also showcased a short Ganesh Stuti in His presence, which He deeply appreciated,” Hema Malini wrote.

“I extend my deepest condolences to the Georgian Orthodox Church, the Clergy and the entire nation of Georgia. I pray His soul rests in Eternal Peace,” she added.

Malini’s tribute reflects the global respect for Patriarch Ilia II, who passed away at the age of 93 on March 17.
