Individual missing near Gergeti glacier found dead

An individual who went missing during a mining expedition near the Gergeti Glacier in Kazbegi Municipality, north-western Georgia, has been discovered dead after an extensive search by the rescuers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Emergency Management Service.

The search efforts, spanning several days, involved the deployment of the Border Police helicopter and a rapid response rescue team, highlighting the collaborative and exhaustive nature of the mission, the agency said. 

The body of the deceased has been recovered from the snow mass by rescuers. Currently, relevant legal procedures are underway as authorities work to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.
