Today we have a police force focused on justice and human interests. Human rights and safety are protected in Georgia more than ever, Interior Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri said in his speech for Police Day marked on Tuesday.

He said that those who have worn the uniform of a police officer at least once in their lives, are well aware what the profession of a police officer means and what difficulties are associated with fighting crimes.

“They also know the pride which is to serve your people,” Gomelauri added.

He stated that protecting human rights and freedoms, creating a safe environment for the public, and fighting crimes are the “most responsible” public roles for each police officer.

“Today we have a police force focused on justice and human interests. This is the achievement of the modern Georgian state and this achievement belongs to every member of the public,”Gomelauri suggested.
