Georgia’s 2026 state budget, amounting to ₾36.3 billion ($13.47bln), will be approved this week, the highest figure in the country’s history, the leader of parliamentary majority, Irakli Kirtskhalia announced on Monday.
He added the budget growth was reflected “across almost all strategic sectors”, highlighting “significant increases” in social and healthcare spending.
“Funding for social and healthcare programmes will rise by ₾848 million ($314.71mln), exceeding ₾9.6 billion ($3.56bln). This is crucial for our team, as since 2012 our consistent focus has been on social welfare and healthcare,” he said.
Kirtskhalia highlighted that the “record-high” budget demonstrated the effectiveness of the ruling party’s governance.
“This is yet another expression of the policy pursued by our team, Georgian Dream. The economic growth we are seeing is the direct result of our peace-oriented policy, transformed into numbers and tangible economic well-being year after year”, he said.
The Parliament is expected to approve the budget during this week’s session.
