Irakli Kirtskhalia, Deputy Chairman of the Georgian Dream parliamentary faction, has expressed strong criticism of Mamuka Khazaradze’s party Lelo, and its pre-election promises. Kirtskhalia highlighted the contradiction between Khazaradze’s pledge to create jobs and his past legal dispute with the Georgian government, in which he sought $1.5 billion, an amount equivalent to a quarter of the national budget.
Kirtskhalia said that Khazaradze lost the case against Georgia and was ordered to pay $650,000. He emphasized that the public will deliver its verdict on Lelo and its promises at the October 26 elections.
“A person who promises to create jobs for the country but simultaneously sues the government for $1.5 billion, a quarter of the state budget, loses the case, and is then ordered to pay $650,000—this political force and its promises will face a firm response from the public on October 26,” Kirtskhalia stated.
