The chair of the parliamentary faction of Georgian Dream and leader of the parliamentary majority, Irakli Kirtskhalia, on Monday criticised the unification of opposition parties, describing it as a “clown show” by what he called the remnants of the United National Movement.
In a social media post, Kirtskhalia wrote “the ‘unity of the remnants of the UNM’ – this is how we can simply title today’s clown show.”
He argued that the opposition forces in question had never truly been divided and had consistently acted together against the interests of the country.
“In principle, they have never been separated, they have always been united in actions directed against Georgia,” he wrote.
Kirtskhalia added that the Georgian people had determined the political fate of what he described as “this agency” in 2012, in a reference to the parliamentary elections that year.
“The place of this agency was defined by the Georgian people in 2012, and that place is the political garbage bin,” he wrote.
