Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated that by 2030, Georgia will be more prepared than any other candidate country to join the European Union in every aspect. He made the remarks during an interview on Imedi TV on Sunday.

Kobakhidze stressed that the EU candidate status was initially seen as a tool of political pressure against Georgia, but the country did not succumb to blackmail and still successfully obtained candidate status.

“Despite the fact that candidate status was conceived as a tool of blackmail against Georgia, we did not yield to pressure and still received it,” the Prime Minister said.

He emphasized that Euro-Atlantic integration remains Georgia’s top foreign policy priority.

“We believe that by 2030, it will be very realistic to seriously think about EU membership. By then, we will be more prepared than any other candidate country — in terms of democracy, human rights, rule of law, economy, and overall readiness for membership. We are very optimistic about Georgia’s future from all perspectives,” Kobakhidze added.
