Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced during a press conference that President Salome Zourabichvili must vacate the presidential residence by December 29 to make way for the newly elected president.

“She has four Fridays left. I understand her emotional state, as she struggles to accept this reality,” Kobakhidze remarked. He noted that on December 29, Zourabichvili will have to leave the residence and hand over the building to the ‘legitimately elected president.’

The Prime Minister also stated that Zourabichvili lost in the October 26 elections. “Let me remind you, Salome Zourabichvili lost the October 26 election. She fought to help the radical opposition win, hoping it would guarantee her position. However, she suffered a severe defeat,” Kobakhidze said.

He added that Zourabichvili’s term is nearing its seventh year and accused her of clinging to her position. “Of course, she will have to leave, her seat included,” the Prime Minister concluded.
