PM Kobakhidze meets Abu Dhabi Ports Group Regional CEO to discuss Middle Corridor cooperation

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday met with Abdulaziz Zayed Al Shamsi, Regional Chief Executive Officer of Abu Dhabi Ports Group, to discuss the importance of the Middle Corridor transport and logistics route and the role of the Tbilisi Dry Port project, the first modern railway container and cargo terminal in the Georgian capital, implemented with investment from the Group.
The Government Administration said during the meeting, the sides expressed readiness to further expand cooperation, including in strategic logistics and transport projects. The discussion highlighted the Tbilisi Dry Port as a successful example of partnership. The facility began operations last year and, via the Middle Corridor, connects manufacturing hubs in Western Asia with consumer markets in Eastern Europe through a network of sea and dry ports in Georgia, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Kazakhstan.
Abu Dhabi Ports Group is the main partner and holds a 60 percent stake in the Tbilisi Dry Port, which it also operates. To date, the company has invested $16 million in the project, with the investment volume expected to increase as development progresses.
