Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Wednesday said there are attempts by what he described as “local agents and their foreign patrons” to create confrontation between Georgia and Armenia.

Speaking on Imedi LIVE, Kobakhidze said Georgia fully supports Armenia and the Armenian people, stressing that the two countries maintain friendly relations and a strategic partnership.

“We fully support our friendly country Armenia and the Armenian people,” Kobakhidze said.

He added that comparisons between Georgia and Armenia were inappropriate given their close ties as neighbouring states.

The Prime Minister said efforts to drive a wedge between the two countries through comparisons would not succeed in any respect.

Kobakhidze also praised Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, noting what he described as his positive approach toward Georgia and cooperation between the two governments.
