Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday announced a $150 million investment will be made to expand Tbilisi International Airport in the country’s capital, significantly increasing its capacity and improving passenger services.
Speaking at the presentation of the airport expansion project, Kobakhidze said that a contract was signed with the French company Groupe ADP for the development of the airport.
The Prime Minister noted the investment will support the growth of passenger traffic, continuous improvement of services, the creation of a comfortable and safe environment for travellers, faster and more efficient operational processes, and the introduction of a modern passenger experience that meets international standards.
Under the agreement, TAV, a company owned by Groupe ADP, will continue to manage Tbilisi International Airport for an additional five years, until the end of 2031, prior to the completion of the construction of the new Tbilisi International Airport in Vaziani.
Kobakhidze emphasised that the expansion project will not only significantly increase the airport’s capacity but also substantially enhance the quality of passenger service. He also expressed gratitude to Groupe ADP and TAV for their long-standing and productive cooperation in the development of Georgia’s airport infrastructure.
