Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday said the Government was intensifying efforts to combat illegal migration, highlighting progress over the past three months.

“Active work is underway to eliminate illegal migration, which is an important issue concerning our society. In the last three months, the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Migration Department deported nearly as many illegal migrants as in the entire previous year. These statistics indicate a significant improvement in efficiency, showing that the Ministry is working much more effectively across all areas,” Kobakhidze said.

The Prime Minister added tackling illegal migration remained a key priority for the Government.
